Australia’s Courtney Atkinson and South Africa’s Kate Roberts handled the explosive Enduro format racing in difficult conditions to claim wins in the first National Elite race at the Caloundra Triathlon on Sunday. The Gold Coaster, Atkinson proved what a versatile world class athlete he is, storming home on the final run leg to beat Dan Wilson and David Matthews over the non traditional format. The format saw athletes complete a 300m swim, 7km cycle and 1.8km run twice in succession.
Sydney will revisit its Olympic Games glory days as its iconic harbour and the Sydney Opera House are showcased to the world when it hosts the opening leg of the 2010 Dextro Energy Triathlon ITU World Championship Series on April 11. The 2010 event features elite athletes only in a single day of high-octane action, while in 2011 a weekend festival will give age group athletes of all ages and ability the chance to tackle one of the most spectacular triathlon courses in the world.
